Real Quiet was nosed out of becoming the racing's 12th Triple Crown winner in 1998.
Real Quiet was purchased for $17,000 by Mike Pegram, Real Quiet. Victory Gallop was his enemy in all three Triple Crown races.Kent Desormeaux was Real Quiet's jockey in all three events, Real Quiet beat Victory Gallop by a half-length in the Kentucky Derby, and 2 1/4 lengths in the Preakness Stakes. In the Belmont Stakes, Real Quiet was leading by four lengths at the eighth pole but Victory Gallop’s relentless drive Real Quiet beaten a nose. Real Quiet did not race again that year, but he was Voted for Champion 3-year-old.
